Bringing Hypnosis to Life: From Training to Effective Practice

 As experienced faculty teaching the Level 1 and Level 2 Clinical Hypnosis courses for the Oregon Society, Debbie Bensching and Dave Boyer have consistently heard from participants about the difficulties they encounter in integrating clinical hypnosis into practice. "Our goal is to Bridge the Gap from Training to Effective Practice Applications."

Based on a recent survey of healthcare providers trained in hypnosis, Debbie and Dave identified the most common concerns and barriers healthcare providers encounter when applying hypnosis skills in clinical settings. This workshop is designed to address those challenges and help build confidence and competence in your hypnosis practice.

Schedule:
The training runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Pacific Time. Lunch is on your own from 12.00-1.00 pm Pacific time so please plan accordingly.   

Approval for 6.5 ASCH CE credits is pending, and accepted by most licensing boards in Oregon. Check with your own licensing board on accepted CE guidelines if you have questions.  Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. 

About the Presenters: Debbie Bensching and Dave Boyer

Debbie Bensching, LCSW, LiCSW, ACSW, MSWAC

Debbie Bensching is a clinical social worker, licensed in Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii.  Additionally, she has her ACSW credential and is a certified master social work addiction counselor (MSWAC).  She is in private practice since 1992.  She works with a range of issues with a focus on complex trauma, addictions, and other issues.  Debbie has completed the Approved Consultant program through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and holds her certification as an ASCH Approved Consultant.  As an Approved Consultant, she does individual and group consultations with other professionals who are seeking certification in clinical hypnosis.  Debbie has been teaching clinical hypnosis for the Oregon Society (OSCH) for the past 12 years and has been the Course Director for the Oregon Society for many of those years.  She has taught for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, ASCH.   Debbie has taught a variety of advanced clinical workshops mostly focused on the treatment of complex trauma. She incorporates clinical hypnosis techniques and theory in her private clinical practice regularly with children, adolescents, and adults.  She is in leadership roles with both OSCH and is a past member of the ASCH board of directors.  She is the current Director of the Annual Clinical Hypnosis Courses for the OSCH. 

Dave Boyer, M.Ed., LMFT, CADC I

Dave Boyer is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Eugene Oregon since 2001 treating trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and many other issues.  He also taught family systems and counseling skills courses at the University of Oregon in the Substance Abuse Prevention Program for 10 years while maintaining a full-time practice.  Additionally, Dave sat on the board of directors of a substance abuse treatment facility in Eugene for a decade, as well on the executive board for an insurance credentialing organization in Oregon.  Most recently, Dave served on the executive board for the Oregon Society of Clinical Hypnosis (OSCH) from 2014 to 2022, serving as President, Vice-President, and Secretary. Presently, Dave continues to serve on the OSCH board and is currently serving as Treasurer.  He is an ASCH Approved Consultant for Clinical Hypnosis and teaches in the Oregon Society annual Level 1 and Level 2 clinical hypnosis courses. 

Oregon Society of Clinical Hypnosis Training Fees:

• $140 OSCH Members (late $165)
• $150 ASCH, SCEH, & other Component Societies Members (late $175)
• $100 Associate Member (late $125)
• $170 Non-Member (late $195)
• $110 Non-Member Student/Intern/Resident (late $135).  

Participants must be licensed health care providers (social workers, counselors, nurses, psychologists, dentists, physicians, etc. with a masters or doctorate) with prior training in clinical hypnosis.  Residents, interns, and students are eligible if enrolled in a masters or doctoral program and have prior training in clinical hypnosis. For exceptions to prior training please email info@oregonhypnosis.org.

Please note:  Attendees must have completed the prerequisite of an ASCH-certified Fundamentals in Clinical Hypnosis course, or the equivalent, in order to be eligible for this training.

Late Registration Deadline: End of day Saturday, May 10, 2025

Event Cancellation Refund Policy:
Cancellation refund requests submitted in writing to info@oregonhypnosis.org at least 21 days before the start of the workshop will receive an 100% refund of the amount paid less a $25 administrative charge.  Cancellation refund requests received 20 -15 days before the start of the workshop will receive a 50% refund of the amount paid less a $25 administrative charge.  No refund will be issued for requests made with 14 days notice or less.

Course Completion Requirements: Sign in and out on time (per times indicated on agenda); complete the entire course; complete course evaluation.

Issuance of Completion Certificate:
Certificates will be issued only to those who attend the full course and complete the course evaluation.  CE approval is only for live participation. It may take up to two weeks for participants to receive their certificate.

OSCH reserves the right to provide a member or 'workshop registrant 'a full refund or credit toward a future workshop in special circumstances for compassionate relief at OSCH board of directors' leadership discretion. Requests must be made in writing prior to the events conclusion. Should the event be postponed due to the pandemic escalating we will follow up with registrants regarding refunds and rescheduling; the option of a full refund will be offered.
